Hyderabad City Police File FIR Against BJP MLA Raja Singh

Hyderabad, April 19: The Hyderabad City Police have registered an FIR against BJP MLA Raja Singh. Following his speech at the Sri Ram Navami Shobha Yatra, BJP MLA Raja Singh faces an FIR from Hyderabad City Police.

The police accuse Raja Singh of attempting to sway voter support with his speech during the event, which drew a large crowd. Moreover, the use of firecrackers during the procession is alleged to have caused public nuisance and violated orders.

Earlier, the BJP leader was denied permission to hold a Ram Navami Rally by Hyderabad police. However, police permitted another organisation to conduct rallies on the same route.

According to the complaint by SI P Ramakishan, he was on Wednesday assigned bandobast duties for the Sri Rama Navami Festival.

He has to monitor the route and movements of the procession from Shankersher Hotel towards Gowliguda Afzalgunj limits along with his staff.

While he was at Gurudwara at about 10.15 pm, he noticed Raja Singh — along with one Joginder Singh Bittu and others — carrying out a procession without any prior permission obtained from the concerned authorities.

The SI said the procession, with a large number of devotees, started from the Mangalhat area and went towards Hanuman Vyamshala before proceeding to Sultan Bazar limits.

“When his rally reached the Central Gurudwara in Gowliguda, he stopped his procession and addressed the public, influencing them by his speech to gain the voters with wrongful restraint and causing congestion of traffic, and also lit firecrackers in huge crowds and created a public nuisance by violating the orders,” he said in his complaint.

The police registered the FIR under Section 341 (wrongful restraint), 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by a public servant), 290 (public nuisance), and 171-C read with 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the IPC, as well as Sections 21/76 and 67 (setting fire to or burning any rubbish or straw or any other matter) of the Commissioner of Police Act.
