Speaking to the media, Khalid Saifullah said the new Hyderabad DCC team would be announced shortly. He said the party had adopted a transparent and consultative process for the first time. This approach replaces the earlier nomination based model. “This process is about recognising committed workers and ensuring that the right candidates take charge at various levels,” he said. He added that the aim was to strengthen the organisation from the grassroots.

Meanwhile, the online application process for Hyderabad DCC positions closed on January 4. It drew a large response from party workers across the Old City. Khalid Saifullah linked this response to rising public trust in the Congress party. He said the leadership of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had encouraged workers to come forward and take responsibility.

He also said the Hyderabad DCC had begun preparing for the GHMC elections. Ward level work across all 44 divisions will start soon. A strategy meeting is expected to be held shortly to finalise plans. According to Khalid, the focus will remain on sustained engagement rather than short term electoral gains.

Highlighting the Congress government’s early achievements, Khalid pointed to welfare schemes implemented in Old City areas. He referred to free bus travel for women, ration card distribution, free fine rice, and other initiatives. He said over 70 percent of the Old City population has already benefited. “There is a visible change. The people are experiencing real governance, something that was missing earlier,” he said. He also mentioned ongoing metro rail works in the Old City.

Khalid said development, not just elections, remained the party’s focus. “The Old City was ignored for decades. We are seeing real progress now, and this is just the beginning,” he said. He added that the final list of Hyderabad DCC office bearers will be announced after scrutiny. Representation for women, youth, SC, ST, BC, and minority communities will be ensured as per AICC observer recommendations.
