Hyderabad: Four Arrested Selling Illegal Drug of Black Fungus
Hyderabad: The Special Operation Teams of Malkajgiri and Bhongir laid traps at Dilsukhnagar and LB Nagar Ringroad and arrested four persons who were illegally procuring and selling Amphotericin B liposome injections here on Friday. Officials seized four injection vials from them. They sold each vial for Rs 50,000, while the actual cost was around Rs 8,000. The medicines are used for treating black fungal infection in Covid patients.
The arrested persons were G Sravan Kumar (33), a medical representative from Shaikpet in Manikonda and U Shailendra Kumar, a medical rep from Dilsukhnagar, Ramanjaneyulu (27), a male nurse from Banjara Hills and J Snehith (24), a junior doctor from Karkhana. Shekhar, a pharmacist from Banjara Hills, is absconding.
According to the police, following a tipoff, the SOT simultaneously raided two different places and nabbed the suspects and seized the drugs from them. They were handed over to the Saroornagar and LB Nagar police for further action.
