Hyderabad Ganesh Immersion in Full Swing: 30,000 Police Personnel Deployed

Hyderabad, Sept. 6: Ganesh idol immersions are underway in Hyderabad, with the massive event expected to continue for nearly 40 hours.

Authorities estimate that close to 50,000 idols will be immersed in Hussain Sagar and other water bodies across the city.

To manage the large-scale processions, over 30,000 police personnel have been deployed, supported by 3,200 traffic policemen.

A QR code system has been introduced for vehicles transporting idols, while color stickers are being issued for vehicles entering from other commissionerates.

Security surveillance has been tightened with 250 temporary CCTV cameras and nine drones, alongside SHE Teams deployed to ensure women’s safety.

The Hyderabad Police have set up command control centers on NTR Marg, where senior officials are monitoring the situation.

Mounted police have been deployed at 100-meter intervals, and more than 3,000 personnel are stationed around Tank Bund, NTR Marg, and other immersion centers.

To facilitate the immersion process, 40 cranes have been installed at key points including Hussain Sagar and Tank Bund. Authorities expect nearly 10 lakh people to gather to witness the final day of immersions.

Traffic diversions and restrictions

Commuters are advised to plan their travel as major traffic restrictions are in effect until 10 am on Sunday.

RTC buses have been diverted, and private buses are barred from entering the city during the immersion period.

Traffic diversions have been set up at 65 locations, with RTC mechanics stationed at 55 points to handle breakdowns of idol transport vehicles. Cranes have also been positioned at major junctions for emergencies.

According to the traffic police, lorries will not be permitted into the city from 8 am on September 6 to 11 pm on September 7. During peak hours, RTC buses will only operate up to Mehdipatnam, Kukatpally, Secunderabad, Uppal, Dilsukhnagar, and Narayanguda.

Passengers heading to Secunderabad railway station have been advised to use the Begumpet–Paradise route.
