All the liquor shops, restaurants, pubs and bars selling liquor were remained shut in the view of election for Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation from 6 am today. The shops will be closed until 6 pm on December 1.
With the closure of liquor shops, the election commission put an eye to restrict the bulk sale of liquor. “Action will be initiated against those shops which are found to be selling the bulk sale of liquor during the elections,” the officials warned.
The officials also said that they have deployed tight security along with the RDA officials at the check post to restrict the transport of liquor from other places to Greater Hyderabad. The officials of the election commission have also said that special action will be taken against those political leaders for luring the voters with alcohol.
GHMC is heading for elections for 150 divisions on December 1 and the counting of votes will take place on December 4.
