Hyderabad: Muslims across Hyderabad are observing Milad-un-Nabi, marking the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammed. The occasion is observed on the 12th day of Rabi-ul-Awwal, the third month of the Islamic Hijri calendar.
Several religious meetings and community programmes are being organised across the city to mark the occasion. A major public meeting is being held at the Numaish Grounds in Nampally by the All India Tameer-e-Millat. Several prominent personalities are expected to attend the programme.
Similar religious gatherings are also being organised at various locations across Hyderabad. The programmes focus on the life, teachings and message of Prophet Mohammed.
Milad Peace Juloos to Begin From Charminar
Several organisations are also organising blood donation camps as part of the Milad-un-Nabi celebrations. The FOCUS organisation is conducting a camp at the Asafia Library in Afzalgunj, which will continue until 5 p.m.
Blood donation camps are also being held at the Charminar Bus Stand and Vijay Nagar Colony, with members of the community participating in the initiatives.
The major attraction of the celebrations will be the Milad Peace Juloos, a mega procession scheduled to begin from Charminar at 1 p.m.
Thousands of people are expected to participate in the procession. The main route will cover Charminar, Gulzar Houz, Pathergathi, Madina Building, Nayapul, Darulshifa, Mandi Mir Alam and Alijah Kotla before the procession culminates at Moghalpura.
Several smaller processions from different parts of Hyderabad are expected to join the main Juloos. Local processions have also been planned in Golconda, Borabanda, Erragadda, Sanathnagar, Hafeezpet and Bowenpally, among other areas.
The Hyderabad Police have made elaborate security arrangements to ensure the celebrations and procession pass off peacefully. Special teams and surveillance personnel have been deployed along the procession routes and at other sensitive locations.
Police are also using drones, CCTV cameras and camera-mounted vehicles to monitor the movement of the procession and maintain security.
Authorities have urged participants to cooperate with police personnel and follow the prescribed arrangements during the Milad-un-Nabi celebrations.
