Hyderabad, Jan 8 (Maxim News): Keeping in view that in one day in Greater Hyderabad Municipal corporation (GHMC) limit chain snatching robberies took place 7 places in just two hours, yesterday, the Telangana Police are hunting everywhere for the thieves.
Roadblocks are being conducted across the state of Telangana and vehicles are being inspected. Checked in on roads with photos of chain snatchers. Police officials are asking everyone who recognizes the people in the photos to contact them immediately.
Banjara Hills Police conducted inspections at Pension Office Circle. Vehicles are being stopped and checked. Police were alerted as chain-snatching cases were registered at 7 places. Inspections are being conducted in Banjara Hills along the route from Masab Tank to Pension Office. Vehicles without documents were seized. suspects are being detained and questioned.
The chain snatchers targeted the elderly and stole around 24 tolas of gold in different areas. They went close to the old people on various pretexts saying they wanted flowers..they wanted milk..they wanted their home address and committed chain snatching. Apart from Hyderabad city, a similar theft took place in Gangadevipalli of Geesukonda Mandal of Warangal district. The police have been alerted in the wake of a series of chain snatchings.
The investigation is being done based on the footage of CCTV cameras in the areas where these incidents took place in Hyderabad, the locations of cell phone towers, and the information of those who have committed similar thefts in the past.
The bike used by the assailants for chain snatching has been recovered. It was found to be registered in the name of Dattatreya Ganesh Puri of Ramkothi. The investigation revealed that the bike was stolen from Abids PS.
It is suspected that an inter-state gang from Delhi and UP may have done this work. Two suspects have been detained and are being interrogated. Rachakonda CP DS Chauhan revealed that the thieves will be arrested soon. (Maxim News)
