The police are specifically focusing on monitoring train arrivals and conducting targeted checks in areas known for previous illegal immigration incidents.

Enhanced Vigilance at Railway Stations to Curb Entry of Illegal Bangladeshi Immigrants

The Hyderabad Police, including those from Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Rachakonda commissioners, have heightened their vigilance. Trains arriving from Kolkata are under strict scrutiny at Secunderabad and Nampally railway stations to deter any attempts by Bangladeshi nationals to enter the city illegally.

Doing Focused Checks and Community Alerts

Police teams are conducting rigorous checks in localities such as Balapur, Katedan, Mailardevpally, Falaknuma, and Pahadai Shareef, where illegal immigrants from Bangladesh have been previously arrested. Residents are being urged to report any suspicious individuals to local authorities.

Recent Incidents and Actions

Several suspects have recently been rounded up for questioning. In previous cases, illegal immigrants from Bangladesh, including Rohingyas, were found working as vendors or in industries and construction sectors. Some were reportedly involved in illegal travel between Bangladesh and India.

In February, under ‘Operation Muskan,’ five Bangladeshi minors were rescued in Khammam, Telangana, and sent back with the help of an NGO. Additionally, four Bangladeshi nationals were arrested for illegal residency, with two having obtained fake passports, Aadhaar cards, PAN cards, and voter IDs.

Recent Arrests and Illegal Activities

Recently, four Bangladeshis, including a minor, were apprehended in Secunderabad. Although they claimed to be visiting relatives in Chandrayangutta, they escaped before the police could complete their investigation. Some illegal immigrants are suspected of acting as agents, assisting others in entering India unlawfully. It is reported that individuals pay between Rs 5,000 to Rs 6,000 for illegal entry into India, with Hyderabad serving as a transit point.

At Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), a Bangladeshi national was recently arrested with a fake passport and an Aadhaar card.

Border Security and Recent Developments

The Border Security Force (BSF) is actively monitoring the border to prevent infiltration. On Wednesday, hundreds of Bangladeshis gathered at the international border in West Bengal’s Jalpaiguri district, seeking to cross into India, claiming attacks in their home country.
