Hyderabad Police Seize 70 Kg Ganja Worth Rs 35 Lakh, Two Arrested
Hyderabad, Feb. 11: Hyderabad Police seized 70 kilograms of dry ganja worth Rs 35 lakh and arrested two persons during a joint operation by the Commissioner’s Task Force West Zone Team and SR Nagar Police.
The accused were allegedly involved in cultivating and supplying narcotic substances from Odisha to the city.
Police identified the accused as Manziel Dalabhera, 30, a farmer from Gajapati district in Odisha, and Ismail Raita, 48, a resident of Medchal working in a private industry.
Officers also seized two mobile phones from their possession.
Investigators said Maniel Dalabhera cultivated ganja on agricultural land in his native village due to financial distress.
He allegedly planted the crop on half an acre of his family land. Later, he reportedly coordinated with relatives to distribute the contraband outside the state.
Ismail Raita had migrated to Hyderabad in November 2024 in search of employment. He secured a job as a fitter in Medchal.
However, police said he later agreed to sell ganja in Hyderabad after being approached by relatives involved in cultivation.
