Hyderabad, July 18 (Maxim News):  Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Mayor, Gadwal Vijayalaxmi suggested the Zonal Commissioners, Superintendent Engineers and Monsoon staff to be vigilant and take action on a war footing to avoid any accidents due to rains falling across the city.  The staff should take steps to remove the flood water from time to time.

The City Mayor advised DCPs, ACPs, and SOs of the circles to be very alert as continuous heavy rains are expected in the next few days.  Zonal, circle, and Ward level officials are advised to follow various instructions to avoid accidents due to heavy rains.

Ward Town Planners should inspect the respective wards and find dilapidated structures and ongoing cellar works and report to the concerned ACP. In case of the dilapidated structure, if it is not possible to demolish them, steps should be taken to vacate the living quarters and close the building to prevent human loss.  In case of ongoing cellar works, if permitted, ensure that all safety measures and soil consolidation measures are taken.  In case of heavy rains, there is a possibility of soil sliding and damage to neighboring structures.  Also, no new cellar excavations should be allowed.

Be alert and take action on all messages received from Control Room, IMD, Call Center (040-21111111) etc.  Zonal CPs should also monitor their respective circles and alert the staff in time, these instructions should be followed strictly, and any inaction or negligence will be taken seriously, added the Mayor.  (Maxim News)
