The Telangana government has designated January 28 as an optional holiday for Shab-e-Meraj, marked on the 27th day of the Islamic month of Rajab. Unlike general holidays listed in the official state calendar, this holiday is optional, leaving the decision to individual institutions.

What is Shab-e-Meraj?

Shab-e-Meraj, meaning “The Night of Ascension,” holds profound significance for Muslims worldwide. It commemorates the miraculous journey of Prophet Muhammad from Makkah to Jerusalem and his subsequent ascension to the heavens.
