Hyderabad, August 19 (Maxim News): Telangana’s BC Welfare and Transport Minister and District In-Charge, Ponnam Prabhakar, announced that the upcoming Ganesh Utsav in Hyderabad and the erstwhile Ranga Reddy district will be organized with grandeur to enhance the brand image of Telangana and Hyderabad.
The festivities, scheduled from August 27 to September 6, 2025, aim to reflect spiritual fervor and cultural vibrancy, surpassing the scale of previous years.
A coordination meeting to oversee preparations for Ganesh Utsav 2025 was held at MCRHRDI today, chaired by Minister Prabhakar.
The meeting saw participation from Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi, MLC Dayanand, DGP Dr. Jitender, senior government officials, and members of prominent Ganesh Utsav committees, including those from Bhagyanagar, Balapur, and Khairatabad.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Prabhakar urged organizers and citizens to extend full cooperation to ensure the smooth conduct of the festival. He assured comprehensive government support to make the celebrations a grand success, emphasizing that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s directives would guide meticulous arrangements for the installation, management, and immersion of Ganesh idols. “The government is committed to conducting the festival in a manner that fosters devotion and strengthens Hyderabad’s reputation,” he said.

To ensure public safety and convenience, the Minister instructed police authorities to implement robust measures to maintain law and order and manage traffic effectively. He directed officials to take precautions against electrical and fire hazards, advising organizers to exercise vigilance. Additionally, he instructed the power department to distribute pamphlets detailing safety measures to prevent electrical mishaps at pandals.
The Minister highlighted ongoing road safety initiatives, noting that repairs are underway to address damage caused by incessant rains. Additional funds have been allocated to restore roads to optimal condition, he added.
He also called upon the Endowments and Cultural Departments to promote the festival’s significance through widespread awareness campaigns for societal benefit.
Minister Prabhakar stressed the importance of inter-departmental coordination, issuing clear directives to all government wings to discharge their duties with sincerity.
He warned that negligence would invite strict action, underscoring that Ganesh Utsav is Hyderabad’s biggest festival and a collective celebration requiring cooperation from all stakeholders, including government departments, festival committees, and citizens.
Hyderabad: GHMC’s Pivotal Role: Mayor
Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi emphasized the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation’s (GHMC) critical role in the festival’s execution. She noted that GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan presented a detailed PowerPoint presentation during the meeting, outlining the corporation’s arrangements. The Mayor assured that this year’s celebrations would surpass last year’s in grandeur, with past shortcomings reviewed and addressed.
She invited festival committee members to submit written grievances directly to her or the Commissioner for prompt resolution, urging organizers and citizens to remain vigilant due to ongoing rains to ensure a safe and seamless celebration.
Police Preparedness: DGP
DGP Dr. Jitender affirmed that the Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Rachakonda police commissionerates are making elaborate arrangements to ensure a peaceful festival. Additional personnel will be deployed compared to last year, he said, emphasizing seamless coordination among government departments to prevent any lapses.
DGP Jitender advised organizers and citizens to take precautionary measures, given the rainy conditions, to avoid accidents.
GHMC’s Comprehensive Arrangements: Commissioner:
GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan highlighted the corporation’s pivotal role in facilitating the festival across Greater Hyderabad. He detailed ongoing efforts, including road repairs, pothole filling on procession routes and national highways, and arrangements for sanitation, street lighting, drinking water, mobile toilets, medical camps, and artificial immersion ponds.
Engineering teams are preparing cranes and equipment at Hussain Sagar and other key immersion sites. Additionally, GHMC is distributing two lakh eco-friendly Ganesh idols to promote sustainable celebrations. The Commissioner presented a detailed plan via PowerPoint, outlining budget allocations and infrastructure support.
TGSPDCL CMD Musharraf Ali Faruqui confirmed that free electricity would be provided to Ganesh pandals, as in previous years, with measures to prevent electrical accidents.
Hyderabad: Launch of “Ganesh Immersion Action Plan” Guide
Minister Prabhakar, along with the Mayor, DGP, and Commissioner, unveiled the “Ganesh Immersion Action Plan” guide, designed by GHMC to enhance coordination and information sharing among departments.
The guide includes zone- and circle-wise action plans, contact details of responsible officials, and information on Ganesh Action Teams. Festival committee members commended GHMC for its detailed presentation and meticulous planning.
The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Environment and Forest Principal Secretary Ahmad Nadeem, Additional DGP Mahesh Bhagwat, Fire Services DG Nagi Reddy, HMDA Commissioner Sarfaraz Ahmad, Hyderabad CP CV Anand, Rachakonda CP Sudheer Babu, Cyberabad CP Avinash Mohanty, Hyderabad Collector Harichandana, Ranga Reddy Collector Narayana Reddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri Collector Manu Choudhary, Traffic Joint CP Joel Davis, Language and Culture Director Mamidi Harikrishna, Information Additional Director B. Jagan, Additional Commissioner Raghu Prasad, and representatives from various departments and festival committees.
