Hyderabad: A 34-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly drowning her nine-month-old daughter in Bairamalguda Lake under the LB Nagar Police Station limits on Sunday evening. Police said the accused was allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
According to the police, morning walkers noticed the woman standing in the lake with the infant at around 7 pm and immediately alerted the police by calling Dial 100. By the time rescue teams reached the spot, the baby had died.
Police Probe Motive Behind Infant’s Death
The accused was identified as Lokasani Rajeshwari (34), a resident of Injapur and wife of Ravinder.
During questioning, Rajeshwari allegedly confessed to consuming alcohol before the incident. Investigators are examining the circumstances that led to the child’s death and are probing the motive behind the alleged killing.
