Hyderabad: The Nacharam police have cracked the Hyderabad woman murder case involving a 65 year old house owner who was killed for gold. The victim, Sujatha, was murdered at her residence in Nacharam. Police later recovered her body from the Vainateya Godavari river in Andhra Pradesh’s Dr B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district. Therefore, the case that shocked residents has now seen major progress.
According to the police, the prime accused is Anjibabu, aged 33, a cab driver from Kothapalli village in Pervali mandal of Konaseema district. He had taken a portion of Sujatha’s house on rent about two months ago. Sujatha lived in Babanagar in Mallapur under Nacharam police station limits. She was living alone after the death of her husband and sons. Meanwhile, police said this situation made her vulnerable.
On the night of December 19, Anjibabu allegedly murdered Sujatha at her house. He reportedly robbed the gold she was wearing and fled with 11 tolas of gold. After committing the crime, he locked the house with the body inside and escaped to his native place. Later, he informed his friends Yuvaraju, aged 18, of Kandavalli village and Durgarao, aged 35, of Vemavaram village, about the murder. Therefore, the crime expanded to include more accused.
On December 20, the three accused hired a car and returned to Mallapur. They shifted the body from the house and transported it to Krishna Lanka in Konaseema district. There, they dumped the body into the Godavari river. However, the crime came to light only on December 24. Sujatha’s sister, Suvarnalatha, who lives in Moinabad, visited the house and found her missing. She then lodged a complaint with the police.
Suspecting the sudden disappearance of the tenant, police traced and detained Anjibabu. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime. Based on his confession, Nacharam CI Dhanunjaya and his team rushed to Konaseema district. With the help of the accused, they conducted a search operation. Later, police recovered Sujatha’s body from the Godavari river between Appanapalli and K. Enugupalli near Mamidikuduru on Tuesday morning.
