Hyderabad, Sept. 28 (Maxim News): The Hyderabad Urban Development Authority (HYDRA) has come under scrutiny following recent allegations of forceful evictions and harassment of residents. In a recent interview, Ranganath clarified that the individuals affected by HYDRA’s actions are not victims but rather individuals who have violated urban planning regulations. He emphasized that the authority has always been cautious about evictions, particularly in areas with small huts and informal settlements. As an example, he cited the case of the N-convention, where demolition was carried out only after proper notice and coordination with the authorities.

Ranganath also addressed specific incidents that have garnered public attention. He explained that the man who set himself on fire was not a poor or vulnerable individual but rather a businessman with a thriving tanker business. The catering business owner in Kukatpally had received prior notice about the demolition but failed to communicate with the tenants, leading to the unfortunate situation.

Addressing concerns about colleges owned by prominent political figures like Asaduddin Owaisi, Malla Reddy, and Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, Ranganath stated that HYDRAA has received complaints about these institutions. However, he assured that these complaints would be addressed after the academic year concludes to minimize disruption to students’ education.

HYDRAA’s focus, according to Ranganath, is on addressing larger encroachments and unauthorized constructions carried out by influential individuals and corporations. He also clarified that the Janwada area falls under GO111 regulations and is not under HYDRA’s jurisdiction.

Dana Kishore, another key official at HYDRA, reiterated the authority’s commitment to honoring government-granted permissions in the FTL (Final Town Planning) and buffer zone areas. He emphasized that HYDRAA’s actions are aimed at ensuring that urban development is carried out sustainably and equitably. (Maxim News)
