Hyderabad, Feb 17: In a major development in the piracy website case, the High Court granted conditional bail to Ravi, who was arrested for running a piracy platform.
The court directed Ravi to appear before the CPS daily. It also barred him from leaving the country. Moreover, the court ordered him to surrender his passport to the police.
Police arrested Ravi on November 16 in connection with the piracy case. Investigators said his illegal activities caused losses worth thousands of crores to the film industry. They also found that he earned crores through unlawful means.
Piracy Website Case: Court Imposes Strict Bail Conditions
During the probe, officials traced Ravi to an island in the Andaman region. They said he fled the country using the money earned from piracy. However, police later took him into custody in Hyderabad after he allegedly challenged authorities before his arrest.
Since his arrest in November, Ravi had repeatedly sought bail. However, courts rejected his pleas until now. With the latest order, he is set to walk out of jail under strict conditions.
Meanwhile, Ravi’s arrest earlier sparked debate on social media. Many users expressed support for him. Some even called him a hero, citing high movie ticket prices and expensive food and water at theatres. Now, attention turns to public reaction following his release on bail.
