Hyderabad, Dec 29 (Maxim News): “For attaining self-sufficiency in vegetable production and providing vegetables at a reasonable price to consumers is the objective of establishing a crop colony” said L. Venkat Ram Reddy, Commissioner of Horticulture.
The Minister for Agriculture Mr. Pocharam Srinivas Reddy will inaugurate the ibrahimpatnam crop colony on Dec 30 which will be started on pilot basis in 3 mandals (Yacharam, Manchal, Ibrahimpatnam) of 36 identified villages with a total subsidy of 34crores 75 lakhs sanctioned by the state Government.
The identified farmers in the cluster villages are 8020 and subsidy will be sanctioned in Hybrid seeds, plastic crates, pandals, farm ponds, mulching, polyhouse, farm mechanisation, drip irrigation components.
He also said that the pilot project has estimated that 7.78 lakhs population in the vicinity of Ibrahimpatnam constituency requires 98000 metric tonnes of vegetables which will be fulfilled by the crop colony.
He further said that the Minister will also inaugurate the scheme of supplying quality vegetable pluglings at the cost of 30 paisa including transportation to the farmers in the districts nearby to the Centre of Excellence, Jeedimetla.
The programme also includes one day training to 680 farmers on techniques and trends in open vegetable cultivation. the farmers from Rangareddy district (380), Medchal (150), Vikarabad (150) will participate, training will be handled by the scientists and experts from the field. The commissioner also invited the interested farmers to participate in the training session. (Maxim News)
