Hyderabad, June 17: The India Meteorological Department has forecast rainfall across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana over the next four to five days as conditions remain favourable for further advancement of the Southwest Monsoon.
According to the Meteorological Department, as of June 15, 2026, the northern limit of the Southwest Monsoon has advanced through several regions including Hyderabad and is expected to progress further into parts of Telangana, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Chhattisgarh and the central Arabian Sea during the coming days.
A trough linked to cyclonic circulation extends from East Uttar Pradesh through East Madhya Pradesh, East Vidarbha and Telangana up to South Coastal Andhra Pradesh at about 0.9 km above mean sea level. As a result, weather activity is expected across the Telugu states.
The Amaravati Meteorological Centre stated that North Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam are likely to receive light to moderate rain or thundershowers at isolated places over the next three days.
In addition, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are likely at one or two places. Gusty winds with speeds reaching 40 to 50 kmph may occur in some areas. Weather conditions are also expected to remain hot and humid.
For South Coastal Andhra Pradesh, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are expected at isolated locations during the next three days. Thunderstorms with lightning activity may also occur.
The department further indicated that gusty winds with speeds of 30 to 40 kmph are likely in several areas.
Authorities have advised people to remain cautious during thunderstorms and follow weather advisories issued by local administrations.
