Imran Khan Mysteriously Killed? Imran Khan’s Sisters Attacked Outside Adiala Jail

Rawalpindi: Amid swirling rumours claiming former Pakistani prime minister Imran Khan had died in jail, his three sisters have alleged that they were “brutally assaulted” by police while demanding a meeting with the incarcerated PTI chief. Khan’s sisters — Noreen Khan, Aleema Khan, and Uzma Khan — claimed that police attacked them and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters outside Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail earlier this week as they appealed for access to the former premier.

Imran Khan has been lodged in Adiala Jail since 2023. His sisters have alleged that authorities have denied them a meeting with him for more than three weeks, fuelling concerns about his health and safety.

PTI stated that Khan’s sisters and supporters were peacefully gathered outside the jail when police “pounced on them” and “brutally assaulted” them, calling the violence an act of retaliation for merely seeking a meeting with Imran Khan. The party has demanded an impartial investigation into what it described as a “barbaric police assault” on the women and other supporters.

What Imran Khan Sister Said

In a letter addressed to Punjab police chief Usman Anwar, Khan’s sisters said the violence was “brutal, orchestrated, and carried out by policemen without provocation.”

“We peacefully protested over concerns for his health condition. We neither blocked roads nor obstructed public movement nor engaged in any unlawful conduct. Yet, without warning, the streetlights were abruptly switched off, plunging the area into darkness,” Noreen Niazi said, adding that the blackout was followed by a coordinated attack by Punjab police personnel.

“At the age of 71, I was seized by my hair, thrown to the ground, and dragged across the road, sustaining visible injuries,” she said.

Other women present were also slapped, dragged, and manhandled, according to the letter. The sisters alleged that the incident was part of a “broader and troubling pattern” of police excesses against peaceful citizens over the past three years.

The letter further termed the police conduct “criminal, illegal, morally reprehensible, and in direct contradiction to the basic duties of a law enforcement agency in any democratic society.”

They demanded that the IGP Punjab initiate strict action against all officials involved.

Imran Khan’s Imprisonment

Imran Khan, PTI’s patron-in-chief, has been in jail since August 2023 in multiple cases. According to PTI, authorities have enforced an informal month-long ban on all meetings amid widespread circulation of fake reports about Khan’s death on social media.

Khan is reportedly kept in complete isolation and solitary confinement. His legal team claims that even access to books, essential items, and communication with his lawyers is being blocked. “The law of the jungle prevails here, where only the beast who rules has rights. No one else has any rights,” said his lawyer Khalid Yousaf Chaudry.

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi also attempted to meet Imran Khan on seven occasions but was repeatedly denied permission by jail authorities, whom Khan’s team claims are working under the direction of an army officer.
