Hyderabad, Sept.22 (Maxim News): Telangana Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy today urged the Centre to increase green gram purchase to 50 per cent and provide MSP. In a letter addressed to Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Thomar, Reddy urged the Centre to increase the green gram (Pesarlu) from 24.8 percent to 50 percent.
Right now the Centre is purchasing only 10378 metric tons from Telangana which has to be increased to 20885 metric tons he said. Since this season green gram production will be more in Telangana, and farmers are happy for the MSP being offered , the Centre has to increase the quota from our state he said.
The minister during a review meeting with officials to make arrangements for more number of purchase centers to procure farm products. The minister asked them to get information from districts on the production of paddy, soya, green gram and others.
Set up more number of purchase centers, shift farm produce to godowns and make online payments avoiding delay, the minister directed to the officials. (Maxim News)
