India records 8,865 new Coronavirus Cases, lowest in 287 days

New Delhi, Nov. 16: India logged 8,865 new coronavirus infections, the lowest in 287 days, taking the country’s tally of Covid-19 cases to 3,44,56,401. The country also reported 197 deaths.

The daily rise in new coronavirus infections has been below 20,000 for 39 days and less than 50,000 daily new cases have been reported for 142 consecutive days now.

The death toll due to the disease has climbed to 4,63,852, with 197 more fatalities in the last 24 hours. The fatality rate in the country is currently at 1.34 per cent.

Meanwhile, the count of active cases in the country has declined to 1,30,793, which is the lowest in 287 days. It comprises 0.38 per cent of the total infections, the lowest since March 2020.

The national Covid-19 recovery rate is at 98.27 per cent, the highest since March 2020, the ministry said.

The country also recorded 11,971 recoveries in the last 24 hours taking the total number total recoveries in the country to 3,38,61,756. The daily positivity rate was recorded at 1.07 per cent. This has been less than 2 per cent for 43 days, the ministry said.

According to the health ministry, a total of 11,07,617 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours. India has so far conducted a total of 62,57,74,159 Covid-19 tests.
