India T20 World Cup Win Sparks Mohammad Amir Reaction
Hyderabad, Mar 9 (Maxim News): India defeated New Zealand in the T20 World Cup final under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav and lifted the trophy. However, comments made by former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir after the match have triggered debate on social media.
Amir had predicted from the start of the tournament that India would lose. His prediction proved wrong after India won the title. As a result, his reaction after the final has drawn wide attention.
He strongly believed that the Black Caps would win the final. After India’s victory, the host asked Amir about his prediction during a post match show. Amir responded briefly and showed visible frustration.
He said, “They won, that is fine. They will take the cup to their house, not to my house. Well done.” His response quickly spread on social media and became a talking point among cricket fans.
Amir later shared his analysis during the programme “Harna Mana Hai.” He said New Zealand bowlers made several mistakes in the final. According to him, those errors helped India secure the victory.
He said Abhishek Sharma benefited during the match. Amir added that Abhishek struggles against off spin. However, he questioned why Mitchell Santner did not continue bowling spin to him.
Amir also criticised the decision to bring Duffy into the attack. He said the move looked unusual during such an important moment. He also pointed out that Lockie Ferguson bowled wides and slot balls that resulted in sixes.
According to Amir, those mistakes showed that the New Zealand bowlers played under pressure in the final. He also said Henry bowled well but the change in plans looked surprising.
At the same time, Amir acknowledged India’s mental strength during the match. He said young players like Abhishek Sharma handled pressure well and showed confidence.
Earlier in the tournament, Amir correctly predicted that India would lose to South Africa in the Super Eight stage. Since then, he continued to claim that India would not reach the final or win the trophy.
Former Indian cricketers Navjot Singh Sidhu and Mohammad Kaif had earlier criticised Amir for those remarks. His latest comments have now sparked fresh debate among cricket fans. (Maxim News)
