Inter-Caste Love Marriage | In another ‘honour’ killing in Hyderabad, a 24-year-old man was killed in public in front of his father over an inter-caste love marriage. Neeraj Kumar Panwar (22) was stabbed to death by five men, said to be relatives of his wife, near the busy fish market in Begum Bazar area under Shahinayathgunj police station limits.

Upon this shops in Begum Bazaar remained closed on Saturday as traders called for a bandh in protest against the murder of Neeraj Panwar on Friday night.

The traders holding placards and banners took out a massive rally in the market demanding immediate arrest of the assailants and stringent action against them. The entire market was shut down till noon and the bandh is expected to be observed till evening.

Inter-Caste Love Marriage

Neeraj was killed by a group of persons at Begum Bazaar when he was going along with his father Rajendar on a two-wheeler. The police suspect the relatives of Sanjana whom he married around a year and a half ago were behind the murder. Her family had opposed the marriage, however the couple got married at a temple. They have a two-month-old child.

The police made elaborate arrangements by deploying additional forces.

Meanwhile the family members and local community leaders staged a sit in front of the Shahinayathgunj police station demanding action against the assailants. Sanjana also participated in the protest and alleged her brothers had killed her husband.

Four in Police custody:

At least four persons were taken into custody by the City Police in connection with the murder of Neeraj Panwar at Begum Bazaar on Friday night.

Panwar was going along with his father Rajendar on a two-wheeler when he was attacked by a group of persons and stabbed to death.

Police examined CCTV footage and picked up a few suspects. Working on some clues, police on Saturday apprehended four accused at Gurumitkal in Karnataka, about 150 km from Hyderabad.

According to the victim’s relatives, he had approached police a year ago seeking protection as he was facing threat to his life from wife’s family.

According to the Shahinayathgunj police, Neeraj had married Sanjana about one and a half years ago against the wishes of her family. Both hail from different castes. Police suspect Sanjana’s relatives to be behind the killing.
