Intermediate Exams Go High-Tech: QR Codes and Unique Numbers to Secure Question Papers

Hyderabad, Feb 19 (Maxim News): To prevent question paper leaks and enhance security, the Telangana Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE) has introduced advanced measures for this year’s Intermediate Public Examinations.

Each question paper will now feature unique numbers and Quick Response (QR) codes to ensure tracking at every stage—from printing to delivery at exam centers. This move comes after last year’s incidents where some teachers attempted to leak question papers.

“Every question paper will have a unique number and QR code. For example, if 10 lakh students are appearing for an English exam, 10 lakh unique codes will be printed on their respective papers,” said S. Krishna Aditya, Director of TG BIE. These QR codes, embedded across the cover page and as a watermark on all pages, will help officials quickly trace any unauthorized sharing, including photographs or hard copies circulated during or before the exam.

To further strengthen security, question paper bundles will now have three-layered packaging, similar to e-commerce parcels. “If anyone tries to tamper with the seal, the entire cover will tear off,” explained a senior official.

Additionally, CCTV cameras have been made mandatory at all 1,532 exam centers. Colleges must install cameras in key locations, including the chief superintendent’s room, corridors, main gate, and backside of the center. These cameras will be linked to the Board’s command control room for real-time monitoring.

The Intermediate exams are scheduled from March 5 to 25, with 9,96,541 students registered, including 4,88,316 first-year and 5,08,225 second-year students. (Maxim News)
