Hyderabad, May 12 (Maxim News): International Nurses Day was celebrated with enthusiasm at Niloufer Hospital in the presence of Hyderabad In charge Minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Tuesday.
The programme witnessed participation from Rajya Sabha member Anil Kumar Yadav, Fisheries Corporation Chairman Mettu Sai Kumar, District Collector Priyanka Ala, DMHO Venkat, Niloufer Hospital Superintendent Dr Vijay Kumar, RDO Ramakrishna, nurses, and hospital staff.
During the event, Minister Ponnam Prabhakar felicitated nurses of Niloufer Hospital for their dedicated services to society and their contribution to public healthcare.
Addressing the gathering, the Minister extended greetings to nurses on the occasion of International Nurses Day. He said nursing is a profession built on compassion, care, and service. He added that honouring nurses means recognising their invaluable role in the healthcare system.

The Minister praised nurses for working tirelessly despite pressure and challenges in hospitals. He stated that treatment alone does not ensure recovery and that patient care provided by nurses plays an equally important role.
“Even when treatment accounts for 50 percent of recovery, the remaining 50 percent depends on the care, support, and service provided by nurses,” he said.
Ponnam Prabhakar also highlighted the long standing legacy of Niloufer Hospital in providing healthcare services for children. He informed that the hospital handles nearly 1,500 outpatient cases every day and currently has around 2,000 inpatient beds.
He said nurses protect public health and continue to serve as the backbone of the medical sector through round the clock dedication towards patient care.
Recalling the COVID 19 pandemic, the Minister said the services rendered by nurses during the crisis would always remain unforgettable. He appreciated healthcare workers who continued their duties fearlessly during difficult circumstances.
The Minister further stated that nurses not only provide medical care but also inspire courage and confidence among patients. He described them as symbols of humanity and compassion.
He also announced that appointment letters would later be distributed to nurses by Damodar Raja Narasimha.
Ponnam Prabhakar emphasised that quality services in government hospitals improve healthcare access for poor and underprivileged communities. He added that nurses play a vital role in building a healthier society. (Maxim News)
