Intl seed Conference From June 26: Agri Minister

Hyderabad, May 27 (Maxim News): Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy today said International Seed Testing Association conference (ISTA) will be held here in June last week to July first week.

The minister held a preparatory meeting for the same at Secretariat here with officials, including Parthasarathi and others. He said the State was noted as seed bowl of the country and making significant development in farm sector. He also said Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has been keen on developing farm sector. The State government was giving top priority for the irrigation projects with which the farm sector can reap golden harvest and surpass other States, Niranjan Reddy said.

Noted farm scientists, scholars and farmers with recognition will be invited to the international conference for which the government was making elaborate arrangements for the same. He said the State has favorable environment for production of varied crops. Hyderabad city has a number of research centers of international repute and provide all sorts of transportation facilities, he added.

The minister said the meeting will have farmers conferences and seminars organized by officials and seed producing farmers during the program. The event will focus on better farm practices at international level and need of quality seeds for better yield and to avoid the poor quality seeds. Agriculture Commissioner Rahul Bojja, Seed Corporation MD Keshavulu and others attended the meeting. (Maxim News)
