Iranian Consul General Visits Osmania University, Strengthening Bilateral Educational Ties
Hyderabad, Mar 19, (Maxim News) Osmania University welcomed Mahdi Shahrokhi, Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hyderabad, and Fatima Naqvi, Public Relations Officer, for a significant goodwill visit today, marking a pivotal step in enhancing academic and cultural exchange between Iran and India.
The visit, coordinated by the Office of International Affairs (OIA) at Osmania University, underscored the enduring relationship between the two nations and the potential for deepened collaboration in higher education.
The University delegation, led by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kumar Molugaram, included key officials such as Prof. G. Naresh Reddy, Registrar, OU, Prof. S. Jithendra Kumar Naik, OSD to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. B. Vijaya, Director, OIA, Dr. Hameed and Dr. A. Nageshwar, Joint Directors of OIA.
Dean of Social Sciences Prof. Syeda Talath Sultana, Dean Sciences Prof. Karunasagar, Dr. Md. Ashfaque Chand, Asst Professor, Department of Persian, A.R. Anitha and other support staff of OIA. and other distinguished faculty members.
Mahdi Shahrokhi expressed his admiration for the long-standing bilateral relations and highlighted the significant presence of Iranian students in South India, currently numbering 7,000.
He praised the established MoUs with JNTU and Maulana Azad National Urdu University and expressed a strong desire to forge a similar partnership with Osmania University.
The Consul General acknowledged the invaluable contributions of the Persian Department at Osmania University, emphasizing its role in fostering cultural understanding.
Prof. Kumar Molugaram reciprocated the warm sentiments, acknowledging the historical presence of Iranian students at Osmania University.
He pledged to create a conducive environment for their academic growth and committed to expediting the process of establishing an MoU to facilitate student and faculty exchange programs.
Prof. Kumar emphasized the university’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence and assured that international students would receive the same high-quality education as their local counterparts.
Prof. B. Vijaya reiterated the importance of developing future plans, including the potential establishment of an offshore campus, and urged swift action on the MoU. She expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor for his continuous support in strengthening the OIA’s initiatives.
This visit signifies a renewed commitment to fostering international collaboration and enriching the academic landscape of Osmania University.
