Is the new ₹75 coin will be available in market? Here is How to get it?
On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a new ₹75 coin to commemorate the inauguration of the ‘Naya Sansad Bhawan’ – the new Parliament building.
The coin features the image of the Lion Capital of the Ashoka Pillar at its center, with the words ‘Bharat’ in Devanagari script and ‘INDIA’ in English on the left and right sides.
Below the Lion Capital, the coin displays the rupee symbol ‘₹’ and the denomination value ’75’ in international numerals.
On the other side of the coin, the image of the Parliament Complex is depicted, along with the year ‘2023’ in international numerals beneath it.
According to the Department of Economic Affairs, the coin weighs approximately 34.65-35.35 grams.
This ₹75 coin falls under the category of ‘commemorative coins,’ which the government typically releases to honor notable individuals, create awareness about government initiatives, or mark significant historical events.
Consequently, it is not intended for regular circulation in the market.
Since 1964, the Indian government has launched over 150 such commemorative coins.
How to purchase ₹75 coin?
To purchase the ₹75 coin, you can visit the website www.indiagovtmint.in, where you will find detailed information about commemorative coins.
The website also offers the option to browse and buy these coins by adding them to your cart, similar to online shopping.
The ₹75 coin can be purchased through the same website. However, if you plan to buy more than ten coins, you will need to provide a PAN card.
Regarding the cost of this coin, a report by Moneycontrol suggests that the material alone for the coin is estimated to be at least ₹1,300.
However, for the exact price at which one can purchase the coin, further information from the government is awaited.
Other Instances of Coin Release
Here are a few instances from the past when the government released special coins:
1) ₹100 coin on Mann Ki Baat: Released on April 30 this year to commemorate the 100th edition of PM Modi’s monthly radio program ‘Mann Ki Baat.’
2) ₹100 silver coin: Released on the same day as the new Parliament inauguration to celebrate the 100th birth anniversary of former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR), this year.
3) ₹175 coin: Minted in July last year to celebrate the 175 years since the foundation of IIT-Roorkee.
4) ₹100 coin in honor of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee: Released in December 2018 to pay tribute to the former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his 94th birth anniversary.
