Israel and Iran Agree to Ceasefire After 12-Day Conflict Following Trump’s Mediation
Beersheba/Hyderabad, June 24 (Maxim News): In a dramatic turn in Middle East tensions, Israel and Iran have agreed to a ceasefire deal brokered by US President Donald Trump, bringing an end to a 12-day war that rocked the region. The agreement followed a final wave of intense strikes from both sides that left destruction and casualties in their wake.
The ceasefire comes after Tehran launched a limited retaliatory missile attack on a US military base in Qatar, prompting urgent global calls for de-escalation. Just hours earlier, Iran had fired a fresh barrage of missiles at Israel, killing at least four people in early morning attacks, while Israel conducted pre-dawn airstrikes targeting multiple strategic locations across Iran.
Confirming the ceasefire, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that the military campaign had fulfilled all of Israel’s objectives, including:
- Neutralising threats from Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile programs
- Weakening Iran’s military leadership and damaging key government facilities
- Establishing air superiority over Tehran
“Israel has achieved all the goals set out at the beginning of this operation. We have removed the threats posed by Iran’s missile and nuclear capabilities,” said Netanyahu. He credited the successful outcome to Israel’s security forces and the diplomatic efforts led by President Trump.
Netanyahu warned that any breach of the ceasefire terms would result in an immediate and powerful Israeli response.
The ceasefire has been welcomed cautiously by global powers, who have urged both nations to stick to the agreement and focus on diplomacy to resolve long-standing issues. The deal marks the most significant breakthrough in the ongoing conflict since hostilities began, offering a glimmer of hope for stability in the region.
