Jadcherla MLA Anirudh Reddy Makes Sensational Remarks on Toddy Shops
Hyderabad, March 9: Anirudh Reddy, MLA from Jadcherla, made sensational remarks stating that he would “drop a bomb” during the upcoming Telangana Legislative Assembly sessions.
Speaking informally with the media at the Telangana Secretariat on Monday, the MLA said he plans to raise the issue of reopening toddy shops in the state during the Zero Hour in the next budget assembly sessions.
Anirudh Reddy remarked that in the past, people who consumed traditional toddy lived up to 115 years, whereas those consuming modern liquor now often die by the age of 80.
Anirudh Reddy argued that toddy is not scientifically proven to be harmful to health and questioned why toddy shops were shut down in Telangana.
Anirudh Reddy said there needs to be clarity on the reasons behind banning toddy shops in the state and stressed the need to reconsider the decision.
The MLA also pointed out that some states have already permitted toddy sales again. According to him, governments in Madhya Pradesh and Odisha are officially running toddy shops.
Anirudh Reddy stated that he will bring up the matter in the Assembly and seek a discussion on reviving toddy shops in Telangana.
