Jagadish Reddy slams Centre for issuing order of power dues

Nalgonda, Aug.30 (NSS): Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy slammed the union government for issuing an order to Telangana to pay pending power dues to Andhra Pradesh.

Speaking to the media here on Tuesday, Minister Jagadish Reddy said that the Centre had failed to consider the dues to be paid by AP to Telangana but it unilaterally directed the Telangana to clear the dues of Andhra Pradesh.

The Minister said the due amount to the tune of Rs. 12,941 crore to be paid by AP to Telangana has been pending for the past few years and even though the issue was brought to the notice of Union government on several occasions, it never asked Andhra Pradesh to clear the pending dues and moreover, ignored the plea of Telangana. Now, the Centre issued the order without considering the dues receivable by Telangana power utilities from Andhra Pradesh, he alleged.

Terming the Centre’s decision as political conspiracy, the Minister alleged that the union government was planning to bring the dark days of power cuts in Telangana by imposing various restrictions on power utilities and to stop free power supply to agricultural pump sets.

“The Telangana has achieved a remarkable progress in power sector since the formation of State. Telangana is the only State in the country, which is supplying 24-hour uninterrupted quality power for all the sectors. Unlike Telangana, no other BJP ruling State has achieved such progress in the power sector, ” Jagadish Reddy pointed out.

He alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi bore a grudge against Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for exposing the failures of the union government and was resorting to unjustified acts on all fronts.(NSS)
