Jagtial Couple Commits Suicide After Remark On Spicy Mutton Curry
- Newly married woman ends life over remark during Dasara lunch
- Grieving husband dies by suicide weeks later on Diwali in Adilabad
Jagtial/Hyderabad, Oct 22 (Maxim News): In a heart-wrenching incident, a newly married couple from Jagtial district died by suicide within a month of their wedding, following a minor domestic dispute. The tragic episode began when the wife allegedly took her own life after a remark over a spicy mutton curry, and the husband, overwhelmed by grief, followed suit weeks later.
According to reports, Allepu Santhosh and Gangotri of Eldandi village in Ibrahimpatnam mandal had been in love for four years before marrying on September 26 with the approval of both their families. Their union, celebrated by relatives and villagers, was seen as a happy conclusion to their long relationship.
However, on October 2, Dasara day, Santhosh visited his in-laws’ home for lunch, where he reportedly commented that the mutton curry was too spicy. The remark reportedly upset Gangotri deeply. Later that night, she allegedly ended her life by hanging at her parents’ house. The shocking death devastated both families, and Santhosh was said to have spiraled into grief following her passing.
Unable to cope with the loss, Santhosh had been living with his sister in Adilabad for the past week. On Diwali, when other family members were away, he also took his own life by hanging. The double tragedy has left both families and the local community in profound sorrow, highlighting how emotional distress and misunderstandings can escalate quickly within newly married couples.
Police said investigations are underway, and both deaths are being treated as cases of suicide. The incident has sparked widespread discussion in the region about emotional health and the fragile nature of relationships under emotional strain. Authorities have urged residents to seek help through available support channels when facing personal or marital issues.
