Amarnath Yatra
Amarnath Yatra started on June 29. The tour ends on August 19. With that, there is a possibility that Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections will be called anytime after August 20. Recently general elections were held along with four state assembly elections. In addition to this, the Supreme Court directed the Central Election Commission to hold the assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. However, the Central Election Commission made it clear to the court that Jammu and Kashmir elections cannot be held along with those elections. In this context, the Supreme Court directed the CEC to conduct the state assembly elections before September.
In November 2018, the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly was dissolved. After that, in 2019, the Center announced that this state would be given special status. Jammu and Kashmir is divided into two Union Territories. Moreover, since the Assembly elections are being held after the repeal of Article 370, almost all the National Political Parties are focusing on them. (Maxim News)
