Hyderabad, Aug.10 (Maxim News): Congress senior leader and MLC T. Jeevan Reddy on Saturday said Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao was responsible for his failure to achieve national project status to Kaleswaram lift irrigation project.
He also alleged that the CM had caused a burden of Rs 50,000 crore by escalating the project estimates. Stating that the escalated amount spent on the project would never be recovered even if the Union government conferred national project status to the project.
Addressing mediapersons at Karimnagar, along with other party leaders, Jeevan Reddy alleged that the Chief Minister had increased the cost estimates of the Kaleswaram lift irrigation project from Rs 38,000 crore to Rs 83,000 crore in the name of redesigning of the project. He charged the Chief Minister with creating an additional ayacut of 1.60 lakh acres from the actual 16.40 lakh acres by spending an additional Rs 45,000 crore. He demanded that the Chief Minister release a white paper on the construction of the project. (Maxim News)
