JNTU-H Opts Odd-Even System For Physical Classes

Hyderabad: Given the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic, the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Hyderabad (JNTU-H) is planning to introduce odd-even system for physical classes. This means that students of first and third year will have classes on one day, while students of second and fourth year will have it on the next day. However, this will be implemented provided the State government gives its nod for reopening of the colleges for physical classes.

The odd-even system, according to university authorities, will ensure physical distancing among student as only 50 per cent strength will be allowed on the campus. Currently, the JNTU-H campus, constituent and affiliated colleges have been conducting online classes.

“We plan to have odd-even shift system of classes. For subjects which require lab or practicals, physical classes will be held and rest will be online. The colleges and hostels will be reopened only after the government gives permission,” senior official said.

The Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao is scheduled to hold a meeting with Ministers and District Collectors on Monday and reopening of educational institutions is also expected to figure among key subjects at the meeting.

Meanwhile, the JNUT-H is planning to announce the second semester examination results of I, II and III year courses in a week.
