Jogu Ramanna Placed Under House Arrest Ahead of CM Visit

Hyderabad, Jan. 16: BRS leader and former minister Jogu Ramanna was placed under house arrest on Friday as a preventive measure ahead of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s Adilabad tour.

Police took the step after Ramanna announced plans to protest and obstruct the Chief Minister’s visit.

Police deployed heavy security outside Ramanna’s residence to prevent any untoward incident. Officials said the house arrest was imposed to maintain law and order during the Chief Minister’s programme.

Meanwhile, no formal detention order was made public at the time of reporting.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is touring the united Adilabad district as part of his official schedule. According to officials, he will be departing from Begumpet by helicopter at 10.50 am and reached Adilabad shortly thereafter.

During the visit, the Chief Minister is set to inaugurate the Chanaka Korata pump house and release irrigation water.

Later, he will inaugurate the Sadarmat barrage in Nirmal district. As part of the tour, Revanth Reddy will also address a public meeting at the Nirmal Mini Stadium at 3 pm.

Officials said the Chief Minister will return to Hyderabad around 4 pm after completing the scheduled events.

Police have made extensive security arrangements across the district in view of the high profile visit. Authorities stated that preventive actions, including the Jogu Ramanna house arrest, were taken only to ensure a smooth and incident free tour.
