Jubilee Hills by election: Kavitha’s Entry into TDP Ruled Out
- Telangana Politics: Nara Lokesh Clarifies on Meetings with KTR, Kavitha’s Entry into TDP
Jubilee Hills by election | Hyderabad, Sept. 10: Political equations in Telangana have sparked debate once again with fresh speculation about possible alignments between the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and the Telugu Desam Party (TDP).
Questions are being raised over repeated meetings between TDP leaders and BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao, and whether both parties are exploring a future understanding.
Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh, who was in Delhi in connection with the Vice Presidential elections, addressed the speculation while interacting with the media.
Responding to Telangana Chief Minister’s comments that KTR often meets him, Lokesh said such issues should be directly asked of the Chief Minister.
He made it clear that he has met KTR on different occasions, adding, “Why do you think I should not meet KTR? In politics, there are no permanent friends or permanent enemies.”
Jubilee Hills by election | Lokesh rules out Kavitha’s entry
Lokesh clarified speculation about BRS leader K. Kavitha joining TDP. In his words, “Taking Kavitha into our party is like taking Jagan into TDP.” He also stressed that the party is working to strengthen its base in Telangana and that a decision would soon be taken on its organizational direction in the state.
When asked about the Jubilee Hills by-election, Lokesh said the decision on whether to contest would be taken by TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu.
Media reports suggest that BRS might stay away from the by-election and extend indirect support to TDP if it contests, though Lokesh avoided a direct response, reiterating that the final call rests with his party leadership.

Lokesh also stated that he would focus more on Telangana affairs going forward. On his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said discussions revolved around Andhra Pradesh governance, implementation of programs, and strengthening booth-level activity ahead of elections.
As speculation intensifies, discussions in Telangana’s political circles suggest that both BRS and TDP are weighing options in view of upcoming electoral challenges.
However, Lokesh’s remarks make it clear that while meetings with KTR have taken place, decisions on alliances and by-election strategies remain firmly with the party’s leadership.
