Jubilee Hills By Poll: First Round Complete — Congress Leads

Hyderabad: The Jubilee Hills by-election began with a tight contest as the first round of counting has been completed, placing the Congress candidate at 8,926 votes, narrowly ahead of the BRS candidate, who secured 8,864 votes. The Congress currently holds a slim lead of 62 votes.

The counting process is underway amid tight security at the Kotla Vijaya Bhaskara Reddy Indoor Stadium in Yousufguda, where a total of 58 candidates are in the fray.

The day began with the counting of 103 postal ballots, for which polling officials arranged pigeon boxes marked with party symbols.

Subsequently, Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) stored in strongrooms are being shifted to the counting tables in the presence of the General Election Observer from the Election Commission of India and authorised party agents. A total of 42 counting tables have been set up, and the counting will be conducted in 10 rounds.

“Each round will take around 30 to 45 minutes,” a poll duty official told Telangana Today. Counting began with the Shaikpet division and will conclude with the Erragadda division, he added.

Candidates Seek Divine Blessings

Ahead of the results, candidates visited temples to offer prayers.
BRS candidate Maganti Sunitha and her family performed a special pooja at Sri Subramanya Swamy Temple in Madhapur.
Congress candidate V. Naveen Yadav, along with his wife, visited the Sri Balkampet Renuka Yellamma Temple and the Sri Peddamma Temple in Jubilee Hills.

Elaborate Arrangements in Place

GHMC Commissioner and District Election Officer R. V. Karnan has deployed 186 counting personnel, while Jubilee Hills Returning Officer P. Sairam is supervising the process to ensure transparency and smooth operations.

Meanwhile, supporters and local leaders from major parties have started gathering in large numbers outside the stadium. LED screens have been set up inside the venue to display round-wise results in real time.
