Jubilee Hills vote count to begin at 8 am; tight security in place

  • 10 rounds, 42 tables planned; postal ballots first, then EVMs

Hyderabad, Nov. 13: Hyderabad District Election Officer RV Karnan said the counting of votes for the Jubilee Hills By-Election will begin at 8 am tomorrow at the Kotla Vijayabhaskar Reddy Stadium in Yousufguda.

RV Karnan stated that officials will count postal and ballot votes first, followed by the EVM votes. He added that the process will be completed in 10 rounds, with arrangements scaled up for faster tabulation.

Explaining the arrangements, he said that unlike the usual 14 tables, the commission has set up 42 counting tables this time with special permission.

Karnan noted that 1,94,631 votes were polled, reflecting 48.49 percent turnout, across 407 polling stations in the constituency.

Karnan said results will be continuously updated on the Election Commission portal and displayed on an LED screen at the counting centre for the media.

DEO said 186 personnel will manage the counting, including counting supervisors and assistants, with a micro-observer at each table.

RV Karnan said the Returning Officer will monitor the process at all times.

Entry to the counting hall is restricted to candidates and their authorised agents; no one else will be allowed inside, he clarified.

DEO RV Karnan added that robust security and oversight have been arranged at the venue, including the appointment of a special officer to supervise the entire process.

Joint Commissioner of Police Tafseer Iqbal said all police units are on standby to ensure a smooth, peaceful count, and Section 144 will be in force around the counting centre. He warned that any violation of the prohibitory orders will invite strict action.
