Kamran Taylor, Young Chef Of England Is Winner of YCO

Hyderabad: The Winners of the 11th edition of the Young Chef Olympiad announced.  Kamran Taylor, Young Chef of England emerged as the Winner of YCO.  Arsen Armenakyan, of Armenia, was adjudged as the first runner and Yves Gabriel Cabrera PO from the Philippines as the second runner-up in the finals held in Kolkata. They emerged victorious competing with 50 other young chefs from 50 countries in three rounds of competition.

The three winners together will walk away with INR Ten lakhs besides a golden trophy. Azerbaijan won the trophy in the last two years consecutively.

The Hyderabad Round Nine participants from Albania, Australia, Greece, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Timor-Leste, Nigeria, Uganda, and the Philippines participants won several awards.  These include 1. Best Egg Skills Test Award – Greece; 2. Best Hygiene and Kitchen Practice Award- Greece 3. Rising Star Award – Uganda; 4. Best Young Chef Ambassador Award – Philippines; 5. Best Young Chef Mentor Nominee Award – Greece and 6. Most National Dish voted on UWYC – Uganda; 7. Bronze Award – Philippines.

Three out of nine participants from Hyderabad round Uzbekistan, Uganda, and Philippines were selected for semi-finals and competed with 17 others selected from five different cities in a semi-final

The world’s biggest culinary event, the 11th edition of the Young Chef Olympiad which was held at the International Institute of Hotel Management (IIHM) at its Campus in Gachibowli in the city had nine participants from Albania, Australia, Greece, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Timor-Leste, Nigeria, Uganda, Philippines.  Bangladesh representative couldn’t make it due to visa-related issues.

Student Chef Representatives of 50 countries participated in the Olympiad.  It was the biggest ever competition in the past 10 editions.  9 countries out of 50 participated in Round 1 of the competition.  The first round of the competition was held simultaneously across five centres Kolkata, Goa, Delhi, Bangalore, Pune, Ahmedabad and Hyderabad.  The Hyderabad round winners are just announced today.

It was a unique competitive event being held for the eleventh time since its inception in 2015.  It was organized under the auspices of the International Hospitality Council, UK, the competition is organized by IIHM, a part of the Indismart Group which is a large conglomerate that operates the IndiSmart Hotels and offers a wide range of services in the field of Hospitality Management Education Training and Consultancy in India and South East Asia informed Mr. Emmanuel, Director of IIHM, Hyderabad.
