Kavitha said the State government must treat irrigation projects as a top priority and release adequate funds to complete pending works.

She pointed out that Andhra Pradesh was adopting multiple strategies for projects on the Godavari and Krishna rivers to ensure water utilisation.

Kavitha questioned why Telangana was failing to implement similar alternative plans for effective use of river waters.

She said the previous BRS government spent nearly Rs 1.80 lakh crore on irrigation projects.

However, she alleged that Telangana was still unable to utilise its full share of Krishna and Godavari waters.

Kavitha Promises Water Commission If Voted To Power

Kavitha said her party would establish a Water Commission after returning to power to ensure proper utilisation of river waters.

She claimed there was not even a small barrage between Jurala and the Andhra Pradesh border.

She promised to construct permanent check dams with gates that would last for more than 100 years.

Taking a dig at BRS leaders, Kavitha said, “We will not pose for photographs and create publicity like BRS leaders.”

She alleged that some projects built earlier lacked durability and were used only for political publicity.

Kavitha also questioned why BRS leaders failed to raise Telangana water issues when Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the State.

She reminded that Telangana was formed mainly to protect the State’s water rights.

Kavitha said party leaders would soon meet Union Minister C. R. Patil regarding the Banakacherla issue.

Demand For 50 Percent BC Reservations

Kavitha also demanded immediate approval for the BC reservation bills sent by the Telangana government to the Centre.

She announced that the party would launch a nationwide campaign seeking 50 percent reservations for Backward Classes in politics, education and employment.

According to her, stronger representation for BC communities was essential for social justice and equal opportunities across the country.
