KCR announces hike in mess charges benefiting 18 lakh students

Hyderabad, March.27 (Maxim News): Stating that the State was in number one position in welfare sector, the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao announced that the government was increasing hostel mess charges this year onwards. The government will increase up to Rs 950 to the students pursuing education from 3rd class to 7th class; up to Rs.1100 to the students pursuing education from 8th class to 10th class; up to Rs.1400 to the Intermediate and degree students following the demands from the Opposition parties. He said that 18 lakh students would be benefited from the enhanced mess charges.

Replying to the House after the debate over Appropriation Bill on Monday at Legislative Assembly, KCR said the government will regularize the services of the Home Guards as soon as possible. The chief minister also assured that the government will increase the salaries of the Asha workers soon.

Stating that the KG-to-PG Scheme was his dream project, KCR said that the TRS government’s aim was to see that there won’t be such education policy implemented across the nation. The state government was moving forward strongly regarding this scheme. The scheme was in primary stage. Time will take to implement the scheme in full pledged manner. The state government has set up gurukul schools for SC, ST, BC and Minorities like never before. The government also set up special degree colleges to the SC girls.

The State government will recruit 24,000 teacher posts in a phased manner. Asking the Opposition parties whether 50 percent of the students pursuing their education in private schools just because of the failure of the previous governments was true or false, KCR said that the state government was firm on providing quality English medium education to the children in government schools.

The Chief Minister said that the state government has taken the power sector as the first priority after TRS government came to power and succeeded in giving uninterrupted power supply to the people. The state government spent Rs.12,136 crore for the betterment of power sector, he added. (Maxim News)
