Hyderabad, June 17 (Maxim News): Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Chief Spokesperson Dr. Dasoju Sravan has alleged that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar has failed to make proper representation with the Central Government on major issues concerning Telangana State.
In an open letter to the Chief Minister on Sunday, Sravan expressed wonder at KCR’s non-serious approach to issues which were part of major electoral promises. He alleged that KCR woke up from his slumber of four years and made a casual representation to the Prime Minister without setting the priorities in proper order. He sought clarification from the Chief Minister for not getting any positive response from the Centre on increase in reservation quota for Muslims and Scheduled Tribes, Railway Coach Factory or funds for Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR) in Hyderabad.
Sravan said KCR has been cheating the Muslims and STs for the last four years on enhancement of their quota. He said a Bill was passed in the Telangana Assembly in April 2017 to increase the Muslim quota to 12% and ST quota to 10%. The Bill was also sent to the Centre for approval. However, no effective representation was made with the Prime Minister so far and consequently, these major electoral promise remained unfulfilled. Similarly, he said ITIR project, which was sanctioned in 2013 by the previous Congress-led UPA Government, remained unimplemented due to the lethargic attitude of TRS Government. He said that the ITIR project was aimed at getting investments of Rs. 5 lakh crore and generation of nearly 50 lakh jobs. However, the Chief Minister, Minister K. Tarakarama Rao, MP K. Kavitha and other ministers made several visits to the national capital to meet Union Ministers. But they failed to get any funds for the ITIR project.
Sravan described KCR’s recent meeting with the Prime Minister as another election stunt wherein he formally submitted letters on 10 different issues. He reminded that KCR had promised to undertake a fight with the Centre, including a legal battle, on the issue of 12% Muslim and 10% ST reservation. However, he remained mute on these issues ever since he came to power.
The Congress leader said that KCR’s meeting the Prime Minister lacked focus and a serious approach. He said that the TRS Government failed to pressurise the BJP Government at the Centre on Railway Coach Factory at Qazipet, a Steel Plant at Bayyaram, Tribal University and national institutions which were promised in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act. He said the failure to get any of these project shows the inefficiency of KCR and his government. He said KCR, during his one-and-a-half hour long meeting, has failed to convince PM on any of these issues. However, this failure does not look surprising as TRS MPs have always remained mute spectators to the injustices done with Telangana by BJP Government. He said that the TRS MPs never raised an issue effectively in the Parliament to protect the interest of people of Telangana.
Sravan said that the BJP Government has failed to extend any assistance to Telangana farmers so far and KCR did not even question the Prime Minister on why his government failed to pay Minimum Support Price or implement the recommendations of Swaminathan Commission. He said lakhs of farmers suffered huge losses due to drought and other natural calamities from 2014-2018. However, none of them got any compensation from Centre so far. He asked as to why KCR did not question PM Modi on his failure to send Central relief to affected farmers. KCR also failed to raise issues of linking backward districts with national highways, implementation of Skill India and Make in India programmes in Telangana.
The Congress leader alleged that KCR, who is a self-proclaimed national leader, gave prominence to his personal interest than Telangana’s interest during his one-on-one meeting the PM Modi. (Maxim News)
