KCR relaxes norms of Residential Teacher Exam

Hyderabad, Feb.9: Paving the way for more number of unemployed youth and those trained in teaching to appear for Teacher job exams for Residential Schools, Chief Minster K Chandrasekhar Rao here on Thursday directed the officials to relax two norms of 60 per cent marks and PGTs with three years of teaching experience.

With this, it is clear that those with 50 per cent of marks in the qualifying examination and those without any teaching experience are eligible to attend the examination. Stating that Gurukul or Residential Schools are noted for high standards of teaching, KCR said repealing of such norms will help more number of candidates to appear for the examinations. KCR instructed the officials to prepare guidelines as per National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) and based on court directives on such examinations and enable more number of candidates to appear the examination.

KCR  also said those with Degree, B.Ed and TET and without other qualifications should be allowed to write the exam. KCR also reviewed on the demand of conducting the examination in Telugu medium. As per NCTE norms, it is not possible to conduct exam in Telugu, KCR advised the candidates to write the exam in English. Guidelines for conducting the examinations should be prepared based on NCTR norms and previous judgments by the courts.

The Supreme Court had earlier given guidelines on what medium students which medium teachers are appointed. Under these guidelines, there was no scope for the candidates to write the examination in Telugu Medium. Hence they have to appear for the examination in English. The Chief Minister, then asked the officials to prepare guidelines accordingly.
