KCR vows to ensure corruption-free transparent administration
Hyderabad, June 2 (Maxim News): Telangana Rashtra Samithi supremo and Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao today declared that he would leave no stone unturned to establish highest standards of transparent administration by putting an end to malady of corruption in the next five years.
Hoisting the national tri-color during the Telangana State Formation Day celebrations held at Public Gardens here on Sunday, the Chief Minister exhorted the people of Telangana State to participate and ensure successful implementation of the new legislations of Panchayat Raj, Municipal and Revenue Acts to bring about institutional changes for good governance. Earlier, he paid floral tributes to Telangana martyrs, who had sacrificed their precious lives for the cause of separate statehood at the Martyrs Memorial opposite the State Assembly Building complex. KCR said the 29th State, which came into being after a valiant people’s movement in the country’s history, had made rapid strides in all spheres of development and became a torch bearer for many innovative programs in the country for other States to emulate.
Enumerating the achievements of the infant State in the last five years, the Chief Minister said the infant State was marching ahead and progressing as a most fruitful State. “If we can recap and reminiscence the past five years as a State, it will come to our mind that we could overcome several hurdles and obstacles. There are innumerable extraordinary success stories in the process. Five years is a small period in a State’s history. However, considering the results we achieved, these five years period was an invaluable one”, he added.
“The erstwhile united AP rulers predicted and cracked jokes that Telangana State if formed will be plunged into darkness. Contrary to their expectations, when Telangana started advancing on progressive path in all fronts, the same people who derided and ridiculed have become dumbfound”, he said. As a result of efficient fiscal policy, the State registered on an average 16.5% revenue growth rate during the past five years. We were able to find permanent solutions to several critical problems that the state has been facing during the past half a century. The foremost problem was power crisis. There is nothing that we cannot achieve if we have perseverance. We achieved separate State which was thought to be an impossibility”, the CM averred.
Found permanent solutions to problems
“Yet another permanent solution that we could work out was drinking water. The success of Mission Bhagiratha Scheme, aimed at comprehensive and permanent solution to drinking water, is literally visualized by people. Despite scorching terrible summer people are not at all worried for drinking water thanks to Mission Bhagiratha. There is no need to travel miles together to fetch drinking water. Demonstrations with empty water pots which was the order of the day once, is seen no more”, KCR said.
“Our top priority has been to extend a helping hand to the needy, helpless and poorest of the poor strata, who led their lives at an extreme corner of the society. Accordingly, a number of welfare programs were conceived and implemented. The Aasara Pensions aimed at providing security to life, are being given to every poverty-stricken individual identifying them either as old or widow or single women or beedi worker or handloom worker or old-aged artiste or filarial affected or AIDS patient. The pension amount that was enhanced from Rs 200 to Rs 1,000 immediately after formation of Telangana is now enhanced to Rs 2016. The pension amount of differently abled persons was enhanced from Rs 1,500 to Rs 3,016. The upper age limit for old-age pension was reduced from 65 years to 57 benefiting six to seven lakh persons. In order to provide a dwelling of self-respect to the weaker sections, two-bed room house construction was in progress. The fine rice food was being provided to students in schools and hostels. Under Arogya Lakshmi Scheme, nutritious food was being provided to pregnant women. Mission Kakatiya aimed at rejuvenating damaged tanks yielded exceptional results and got international acclamations as a role model of development”, the CM pointed out.
“To wipe out tears of farmers, we have commenced construction of major irrigation projects simultaneously on River Godavari and River Krishna to provide water for irrigation to over a crore of acres. We were able to provide water for ten lakh acres in the drought-prone Mahbubnagar district. For making optimum utilization of River Krishna water, the construction of Palamoor-Rangareddy lift irrigation scheme project has been in progress, with which, Mahbubnagar, Wanaparti, Gadwal, Nagarkurnool, Narayan pet, Rangareddy, Vikarabad districts as well as Munugod and Devarakonda areas of Nalgonda district will become fertile.
Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project which is under construction on River Godavari will change the face of Telangana. The wet run conducted with heavy motors near a pump house forming part of Kaleshwaram project was a grand success. From next month end, the government was making preparations to lift two TMCs of Godavari Water per day from Medigadda barrage. The project would supply sufficient water to grow two crops a year in 45 lakh of acres in Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Peddapally, Karimnagar, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Kamareddy, Jangaon, Mahaboobabad, Siricilla, Siddipet, Medak, Sangareddy, Jagityal, Medchal, Yadadri Bhongir and Suryapet districts. The Sitarama Lift Irrigation project works aimed at providing water to Khammam and Bhadradri Kothagudem districts and part of Mahaboobabad district are on war footing. The capacity old Devadula project was increased. This would fulfil the irrigation needs of Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Warangal Urban, Warangal Rural, Jangaon, Mahaboobabad and Suryapet districts.
Rythu Bandhu & Rylthu Bheema
The investment support scheme for agriculture, the Rythu Bandhu, meant for providing financial assistance to farmer towards crop investment enthused the hearts of the farmer. We were able to prevent the farmer suffering from debts for agriculture investment by giving Rs 4000 per acre per crop totalling Rs 8000. This scheme attracted the attention of whole world. In addition to several state governments even to the union government the scheme became a role model. For the Kisan Samman Yojana Scheme introduced by union government the inspiration came from our Rythu Bandhu. The Unite Nations praised Rythu Bandhu Scheme as one of the great schemes in the world. I am announcing the happy news to the farming community that the amount given under Rythu Bandhu will be enhanced from Rs 8000 per acre to Rs 10000 per acre from this year.
“Having realized and thought that, if a farmer dies for whatever might be the reason, his family shall not become a destitute, the government introduced and implementing the Rythu Bhima Scheme. The entire insured premium amount is borne by the government and on the event of death of a farmer his family will get Rs 5 lakhs insured amount at once. By removing the hopelessness feeling in the farmer and by creating fresh enthusiasm in them, the government is able to achieve good results. The government schemes prevented suicides and raised fresh hopes in the lives of farmer as well as confidence in their future”, the Chief Minister said.(Maxim News)
