KCR’s anti-Constitution remarks are part of BJP’s conspiracy: Revanth

Hyderabad/New Delhi: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President & MP A. Revanth Reddy has strongly condemned Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao for his remarks proposing a new Constitution for the country.

Addressing a press conference in Telangana Bhavan in New Delhi on Wednesday, Revanth Reddy said that KCR’s views on changing the Constitution of India were BJP’s view. He said BJP has been conspiring to change the constitution drafted by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, and this time, BJP made KCR speak about it. He said the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes have been enjoying the reservation and other benefits only because of the present Constitution. He said that the BJP wanted to change the Constitution to deprive SCs, STs, BCs and others of reaping the benefits of reservation and other sops. While KCR was always inclined towards BJP’s ideology, this time he came out in the open against Dr. Ambedkar’s Constitution.

Revanth Reddy said that the Congress cadre has been directed to burn KCR’s effigies across Telangana State near the statues of Dr. Ambedkar. He said a 48-hour agitation would also be launched on Thursday demanding that KCR withdraw his remarks while tendering an unconditional apology.

The TPCC Chief said that the Constitution of India is considered the best and ideal for the entire world. He said some provisions of the Constitution could be amended and so far, it has been done 105 times. But by proposing a change in the Constitution, KCR has displayed his disrespect and hatred towards Dr. Ambedkar and also the SC, ST, BC and other weaker communities.

Revanth Reddy said KCR addressed a press conference for two hours and 34 hours to react on the budget speech of Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, which lasted for only 90-minutes. He said there was nothing new in KCR’s presser. He did not raise any new demand. He did not speak about the promises made in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act which BJP Govt did not fulfill in the last eight years. He was silent about the Railway Coach Factory at Qazipet, Steel Factory at Bayyaram and the Tribal University.

The TPCC Chief also objected to the non-parliamentary language used by KCR against Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said the use of abusive language against a female minister, who also happens to hail from a Telugu State, was unpardonable. Further, he said KCR must give respect to Narendra Modi as he holds the post of Prime Minister of India. He said despite having serious ideological and political differences with Narendra Modi, the Congress leaders never used offensive language against the Prime Minister.

He said the use of abusive language was not part of Telangana’s culture. By hurling abuse at PM Modi and Finance Minister Sitharaman, KCR has insulted the culture and values of Telangana.

Revanth Reddy said that KCR was supporting the BJP in the Uttar Pradesh elections. By stating that the BJP might win the UP polls, but with less number of seats, KCR is supporting the ruling party whose defeat looks inevitable. Calling KCR a leader of ‘Supari Gang’ he said that the Chief Minister had engaged MIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi as his ‘sharp shooter’ to help the BJP in UP elections.

Commenting on the budget, Revanth Reddy said that it was the eighth budget presented by the BJP Govt at the Centre. He described the budget as totally disappointing and said it benefits only 10% of the rich and elite population while neglecting the needs of the remaining 90% of nearly 140 crore people. He said a majority of common people do not deal with electronic gadgets or jewellery. But a major portion of the budget was dedicated to such items.

Revanth Reddy said the farmers, who constitute nearly 75% of the total population, were completely ignored. He said that the subsidy on fertilizers has been reduced. There is no mention of Minimum Support Price in the budget. The funds for the procurement of wheat and paddy have been reduced. The budget speech gave a clear indication that the Modi Govt was implementing the provisions of repealed three black laws. He said that the government has earmarked just 4.8% of the total budget for agriculture, which employs nearly 70% of the population. No allocations were made for the Market Intervention Fund, he said.

The TPCC President said that the Modi Govt has promised to double farmers’ income by 2022. However, it doubled the cost of cultivation. Further, he said that the allocations for Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme have been slashed by Rs. 25,000 crore. He said that the Central Govt should have increased the allocation as lakhs of migrant labourers have returned to their native places from cities and towns due to the Covid situation. With the reduction in the NREGS budget, now they will not have adequate sources of living in their villages, he said.

Revanth Reddy said no relief was given in the GST or in tax slabs. There was nothing for the employees, youth, farmers, women and other sections. He said while many countries have focussed on strengthening their medical and health infrastructure, BJP Govt did not increase the Health Budget. Similarly, he said the education sector remained neglected in the Union Budget.

The TPCC Chief said that the rising inflation was not addressed in the budget and no measures were taken to control the prices of essential prices. He said that the BJP’s ‘suit boot ki sarkar’ has disappointed all sections of society. (Maxim News)
