The court questioned the rationale behind giving the film a mere ‘U/A 16+’ certificate. The court questioned why a stricter classification was not made in view of the film’s plot and its impact on society. The bench was of the view that the concerns of the public should be taken into account, especially regarding the use of the name of the state in the title in a way that incites social hatred.

The producers of the film, while making their argument, said that the film is not limited to Kerala alone, but shows stories related to three states. That is why the subtitle Goes Beyond was added. However, the court came to the notice of the board that the film was cleared with about 16 cuts, dialogue changes, and a lengthy disclaimer. The legal battle is currently ongoing, and a final verdict is likely to be reached in the next hearing.
