Key Development in Kaleshwaram Project Corruption Case: KCR and Harish Rao File Petition

Hyderabad, Feb 21 (Maxim News): A significant development has emerged in the ongoing Kaleshwaram Project corruption case. Former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) and Harish Rao have filed a petition in the High Court challenging the recent directive from the Bhupalpally Court.

The petition contests the Bhupalpally Court’s order that required both KCR and Harish Rao to appear in person for a hearing. The High Court held a hearing on the matter today (Friday).

The case originated from a private petition filed by social activist Rajalinga Murthy, who alleged corruption in the construction of the Kaleshwaram Project. The Bhupalpally District Court had previously issued notices to KCR, Harish Rao, Mega Krishna Reddy, and other defendants, ordering them to appear in court on July 10, 2024.

During the hearing, KCR’s lawyer argued for the dismissal of the lower court’s orders, stating that the complainant, Rajalinga Murthy, had been murdered, which should nullify the case. The High Court acknowledged reports of Murthy’s death, commenting that a case typically becomes ineligible for trial following the complainant’s demise.

However, the Public Prosecutor (PP) countered this argument, stating that the case could still proceed despite the complainant’s death. The PP mentioned that there are relevant Supreme Court judgments supporting this position and requested time to present those rulings before the court.

Following the arguments, the High Court adjourned the next hearing to Monday. A final decision on the petition filed by KCR and Harish Rao is expected after the court hears both sides in the upcoming session. (Maxim News)
