Key Development In The Delhi Liquor Scam, Many Evidences On Sisodia

Delhi/Hyderabad, May 19 (Maxim News): Significant progress has come in the case of corruption in the formulation and implementation of Delhi liquor policy.  The CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) has said that there is a lot of evidence on the role of former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi and Aam Aadmi Party leader Manish Sisodia

The CBI said in a supplementary chargesheet filed on April 25 in the Court at Delhi Rouse Avenue Court that the scam involved illegal earnings of Rs. 500 crore per annum.  The supplementary chargesheet was filed against Manish Sisodia, gorantla Buchi Babu, Arjun Pandey and Amandeep Dhal.  The court reserved judgment on its admissibility for trial.  The  judgment will be delivered on May 27.

Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal was also questioned by the CBI in the Delhi liquor policy scam case.  This policy, which was introduced in 2021, has now been cancelled.  This policy has been designed in such a way that the government is not involved in the sale of liquor, only in privat eshops.  In most of the states, the sale of liquor is related to the government.

The Delhi state government said the policy was designed to curb black market, increase revenue and improve consumer experience.  Allowed home delivery of liquor.  Liquor shops were allowed to remain open till 3 am.  Liquor license holders can offer unlimited discounts, it said.  The implementation of this policy will increase the income by 27 per cent.

Meanwhile, the Economic Offences Wing of the Delhi Police has launched an investigation into allegations of corruption in the formulation and implementation of this policy.  After that Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena looked into it and ordered a CBI investigation.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is investigating money laundering in the scam.  A liquor lobby called ‘south Group’ is said to have given Rs. 100 crores to the Aam Aadmi Party through the arrested businessman.  It is said that this money was given to the party for the Goa elections.  It is said that due to this cam, the Delhi state government has suffered a loss of Rs. 2,800 crores.  ED also questioned Telangana MLC K.Kavitha.  (Maxim News)
