Khalifa Organisation Leader Zakariya Arrested At Chennai Airport 

Wasi Zakariya, the national president of the Khalifa Organisation in India, was arrested at Chennai Airport while attempting to travel to Pakistan via Sri Lanka for the group’s leadership election.

Zakariya, a resident of Warangal, Telangana, had migrated from Pakistan to India 25 years ago. Initially settling in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, he later moved to Janpeerilu in Warangal, where he established himself as a local businessman.

Zakariya, who is married to two women, both of whom are pregnant, has a family of eight children. He had lived in Warangal for many years, where he operated a biryani center near the Under Bridge area. However, this business has recently remained closed.

Businesses and Activities

Apart from running the biryani center, Zakariya was also involved in various business ventures.  He reportedly converted 10-12 individuals to the Khalifa Organisation, and he operated several biryani centers in Warangal and Hanamkonda.

In addition, he owned a fleet of 16 auto-trolley vehicles that were used to sell sweets (Kovas) and ice creams in local colonies, further expanding his business footprint.

The Khalifa Organisation and Leadership Election

The Khalifa Organisation, founded by a Pakistani national who recently passed away, is in the process of electing a new president. Zakariya’s travel to Pakistan was reportedly in connection with this election.

The Khalifa Organisation is believed to have significant influence over certain minority groups, and it is connected to Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, an entity known for its role in influencing political and religious communities.

Arrest at Chennai Airport

Authorities arrested Zakariya at Chennai Airport before he could board his flight, uncovering literature linked to Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan.
